@tgray Hi! Generally, when you post Ricoh GR (2013) photos to Flickr, are you just going with the inherent digital grain that sensor gives to an image? Or are you adding any in post? Iโ€™m unapologetically pixel-peeping and it looks so good I think I want to hunt for an old one. It seems to leave its stamp on whatever it sees and I love it.

@twelvety I probably add grain to most of the shots. I think I have different settings for real high ISO shots but I can't recall - I have not been shooting the camera as much in the past few years. It's a great camera and I've been tempted by the newest version, but I spent way too much on other camera stuff recently. If you have questions about specific pictures I can pull them up and see what my ACR settings were...

@tgray Thank you! This one in particular: flic.kr/p/2jtdhmw If the result is from a particular film-look recipe of yours, that's even more amazing. That kind of combo would make my film cameras lonely.

@tgray This is fantastic, Tim! Thank you for going to all this trouble. Your tip about shadows and highlights makes sense and yep, Iโ€™m frequently tempted to handle them the opposite way. Thanks again!

@twelvety Agreed. The GR is good like that. Dynamic range just seems about right. With my Sony or Leica, they capture so much it's tempting to try to keep it all and then things look unnatural.

@tgray Ok! I just ordered a used one in what looks like very nice condition. I saw a note from almost two years ago in my wiki when these first came on my radar. Iโ€™m justifying the purchase now by saying that two years is a long enough cooling-off period. (h/t @canion for that idea)

@twelvety I bought mine the instant it came out and used it as my only digital up until 2018. It's a great camera. Autofocus can hunt a little and low light performance could be a bit better, both of which should be improved in newer versions. I'm a manual focus person so take what I say with a grain of salt. Enjoy!

@twelvety Two years of thinking time is plenty. Purchase without guilt! ๐Ÿ˜›

@twelvety Nice! I can see how @tgray and his GR photos influenced your decision. They're great cameras. I bet you'll love it.

@jack Thanks! Yeah, my wife can tell you how long I looked at those photos on Flickr yesterday. Whatโ€™s crazy is that Friday night I wanted an X100F and @tgray alone undid all that in a day. ๐Ÿ˜
