I’m enjoying Pocket Casts as a podcast player. I’ve always been aware of it, but never tried it. Now I have, and I think it could be the best of the bunch.

@canion Awesome! I’ve used it since before it was bought by NPR. I think more recently I’ve been a bit worried about its use of data and tracking, but currently it’s still my podcast player of choice as well.

@canion Have you used Overcast? I switched from Pocket Casts to Overcast a while ago, but I can't remember why. Now curious if I should switch back!

@cygnoir I used Overcast for years. It’s a great app. Hard to find much wrong with it.

@philly @cygnoir I have recorded a quick audio summation of my assessment of podcast apps, if you’re interested.

@cygnoir FWIW, my favorite is Castro. Its inbox + queue, and ability to configure per podcast what you want to do with new episodes, fits exactly with how I listen to podcasts. (Or used to, when I commuted). It's buggy on CarPlay though.

@canion Enjoyed listening. PocketCasts does have the ability to set skips for a podcast similar to Castro. Only at the beginning and end of episodes tho.

@ChuckJordan I have tried Castro a few times because I love the concept, but could never get the hang of the inbox. Maybe I'll try it again!
