I’m back from holiday and have written about watching ravens.

@bsag I loved the paragraph at the end, from "they tied the wind in beautiful and complex knots with their flight." to "black calligraphy on the sky". It's very beautifully written.

@bsag Birds at play -- and I am not afraid to call it that -- are so fascinating. I once spent at least an hour watching a load of choughs do the same in Switzerland. Is it more common in corvids, I wonder.

@jeremycherfas We saw choughs too but they were busy foraging. Play is pretty common in corvids but you do see it is some other groups of birds.
