@bsag I’ve been considering the same move for the same reasons - looking forward to hearing more about your experience!
@bsag An interesting read and I’m finding my essential MacOS apps less essential these days but the interoperability between Apple devices is what keeps me here on Apple.
It feels the days of Mac being ‘cleaner’, leaner and more stable than windows are gone
@BestofTimes Yes, interoperating with iOS is what I think will be the most tricky thing. While there are some ‘open’ smart phones, they seem to be at an early stage, and some require the use of Google’s store. I want that even less!
@bsag You’re not alone! I’ve been slowly (very slowly) moving toward Linux. @BestofTimes is correct: the days of Apple being “cleaner, leaner, and more stable” are gone.
@the Sadly, RIP. Still, judging by the few minutes in which I had to install Windows on the PC in order to disable safe boot and wipe the drive while installing Linux, macOS is not quite at Windows’ level of annoyances. Yet.
@bsag it was good to read this post, a lot of good information. I use a Mac for work mostly, and have windows and Linux for other activities. Linux came a long way for sure.
@bsag if you are the sort of personality that likes tiling WMs and dotfiles then you'll be unable to resist the pull
