There’s nothing more satisfying than visibly mending a favourite pair of jeans.
@bsag I'd love to be able to sew. I made a pair of pajama bottoms for my daughter once and, while they turned out ok, it wasn't a smooth process. I swore a lot while removing stitches :).
@bsag I used to do my own, back when. Now I send them back to the fine people who made them, in Cardigan.
@jeremycherfas I bet they do a better job than me! This is my second repair for this pair. I should have done it the proper way the first time (using iron-on interfacing to reinforce, then darning over with thread). This pair is actually my last remaining pair of non-me-made jeans. I'm sure I'll be repairing my me-made jeans too, in time.
@bsag They did an amazing job, kind of like mechanical darning. I don’t think there is an extra piece of fabric in there. But I could be wrong.
@jeremycherfas Intriguing. Maybe they have other ways of stabilising and strengthening the fabric while they darn? It definitely sounds worth paying for anyway. My technique is much rougher!
