🥺 1Password renewal comes at the worst possible time. We could try to leave our family account behind, and move to the (MUCH) less expensive Bitwarden. But that would take time to set up for everyone, and no one has free time to do it before the sub renews. One more year!

@maique did you know Apple now has a passwords app where you can setup family/shared passwords?

@maique And that's the entire Subscription business model.

@bryan Yeah. Wife needs access on Windows. Quite honestly she hates the whole thing so much, getting her to change to something else will probably be the hardest part.

@maique this is reason number one I’m still with them. 😂

@pcora I just wish they had a couple ‘s account. Or individual, with guest. That would be enough.

@maique I have a few that every year I say that I should look for options, but in the end..

@maique You can use Apple's on Windows, though I have no idea if it works as well as 1Password — last I checked they're at least providing an extension for Chrome and Edge — but I hear you about the switching cost.

I think a lot of developers and tech nerds struggle to understand the extent to which most people simply don't have the spare capacity to be messing about with new apps and services.

@maique One year I asked 1Password for a "loyal subscriber" discount considering they were offering 50% off for new switchers to the family plan, and they gave me one. (Keep it under your hat!)

@SimonWoods Thank you. I did not know that.

But it’s all too time consuming, yeah. I’d probably try it if I was on my own, even though I’m almost positive there’s no way this would work on my old laptop. Then there’s the rest of the data (non-password related) that I have stored in 1P. But I could deal with it.

My wife, on the other hand, would be harder. She does not use her Apple ID at all. She barely uses 1P, and making her change would just mean she’d stop using a password manager, and go back to her old, unsafe, ways.

@mmetcalfe Thanks. I’d been using the standalone versions for over a decade, before I moved to their cloud stuff. At the same time I changed to Family, and they offered 3 years of discounted (same 50%) service. Those years have now ended.

@maique I see. I'd still contact them unless you've decided to leave the platform. Why would they want to lose a customer?
