@jessamyn happy birthday from a random follower. I just took this picture of a squash blossom this morning because I have been enjoying them so much. The plant is a volunteer that started growing from the compost we mulched a tomato with, so I have no idea what variety it is; it has stubbornly refused to set any fruit 🙂

@jessamyn happy birthday fellow Virgo! This is a quilt I saw at the Smithsonian American Art museum. I love the mix of a bold star and the micro-“crazy” style for the blocks. Normally “crazy” is at the level of a square so this is divergent.

@jessamyn I never shut up about it, but bike-riding in general has changed my life in the last year, and this bike brings me nothing but joy. My wife paid for it as my 50th birthday present and I replaced some of the 1995 components with more modern ones.

Thank you for all the birthday pictures of various things. I had a really calm birthday here: go to work, porch time, post office visit, walk with friend, errands, reported a bug with a walk-tracking app, transferred my librarian.net domain, helped a friend troubleshoot her Apple watch to figure out why it texted me thirty times, figured out how to get my free birthday candy bar out of the gas station app. You know, the usual.
@jessamyn I am late but happy birthday! (Was thinking of you yesterday because I was talking to an Olin librarian about reserves for my course and she also encouraged me to go to the Mass Book Awards Ceremony at the state house next month, even though it conflicts with my class).

@mikeloukides Yeah Cumberland Farms is a local gas/convenience store chain and they have an app that metes out occasional "rewards" like that. It's the closest/cheapest gas to me and with the app it's 10 cents cheaper so I've become an "I have a gas app" person which is wild but seems to mostly work.
