Just installed a Sonos Beam 2. And it’s… fine? I guess? Not much better than the built-in TV speakers. I guess the real difference will be noticeable as I build out the system. But so far, I’m kinda wishing I had gone with two Apple HomePods instead.

@gdp wow, that was not my experience. Have you run TruePlay on it yet?

@briandigital Now that I’ve put it through its paces, the Beam 2 sounds great for cinematic pieces but there’s little to no noticeable difference for television shows. TruePlay does not work for many iOS users (I found I am not alone). And that’s not the only thing not working; Apple Music will not connect as a service available to Sonos. I’ve tried on an iPhone, an iPad, and an Android device. So far, it hasn’t been a stellar entry into the Sonos universe. I really am tempted to trade out for two HomePods.

@gdp oh, that’s a bummer. Is this using the current iOS app (black icon) or the previous (gold) icon? That’s been a big issue this year in the community. Might be worth a post to r/Sonos for input if you’re a Reddit user. I’m curious if something is off in your TV source, or maybe Night Mode is on?

@briandigital I’m using the latest app. But it’s really ok. I suppose I hadn’t given it a fair chance when I posted that. It actually sounds fantastic for movies. TV shows, I suppose, usually aren’t designed to use a full sound stage like movies. My wife actually thinks it’s too much, so maybe it’s perfect. 😂
