Any advice for getting the Mastodon verification on my micro.blog?
@brian_wolf I took the link html snippet from Mastodon profile page and stuck it in the footer of my M.b site. Verification went green a few minutes later.
@petebrown I appreciate it Pete. I did this once, but nothing came of it. This time I’ll be patient.
@brian_wolf I hear ya. I should add that out of the like 30 times I’ve tried to get this sort of indieweb verification working, this is the first time it actually has ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@brian_wolf I find the easiest to be following the steps outlined in the help.
Changing the link to your url of course.
@brian_wolf Let us know if it works for you or not.
If you need any help I’m sure we are many that can help you get this up and running.
@furstenberg Why I love it here.
@furstenberg @petebrown I have tried the footer and the custom theme. Never have worked. The footer is how I have it currently set. If you look at my Mb now there is a small . I set for the link.
@brian_wolf So when looking at your page, there is currently an anchor element in your footer, with rel=“me”
.
What you want is a link element in your header, like the ones you have there already for Twitter and Instagram.
The custom theme route should solve that for you.
@furstenberg Unsure. The social links are the top are from the theme, I did not add them. I’ll keep playing with it.
@brian_wolf Then you should be able to update the header of your theme.
If you search for the social links, you should be able to add another line below.
@furstenberg Thanks for the help. I tried again with no luck. I followed it with the best of my understanding. Unsure where I’ve messed up.
@brian_wolf Well an update to this.
I just changed my Mastodon URL to include www. Then, poof it works! Verified now!
@furstenberg Thanks for the help. I got it working just now by adding the www. to my Mastodon url.
