@gregmoore Thanks! That's so kind. Gets dark back there through the trees pretty quickly so I was racing to get something usable. Then it flew away and settled on the tree in the second photo, which had a much lighter background (and was closer).

@brentajones My parents had an owl family nest in the small forest behind their house in 2020. Our daily entertainment was watching them come out as the sun set to hunt. It looked exactly like your photos and they were very good at moving just as I composed a photo.
I was only able to capture daytime photos when their owlet got old enough to need flying practice.
