@smokey It is sad. Unfortunatly these sort of shenanigans have a long history: Former Mozilla GM: Google sabotaged Firefox to boost Chrome - Developer. It's this sort of thing that makes me assert that Chrome under Google leadership is a poison in the Web.

@bradenslen Yeah. They weren’t quite so bad back then, but we had problems with them singling out Camino for “unknown browser” treatment—and the rest of the web was just as bad, though more stupid rather than malicious.

I’m half of the mind that the user-agent string should be abolished entirely, because its mere presence “encourages” webdevs to misuse it, far more than other webdevs use it for legitimate purposes. The only problem with that is that half the legacy web will break entirely without it 😝
