The claim that government ought to be run like a business is problematic for a bunch of reasons, but I find it particularly bothersome when it is made by people who clearly have no idea how businesses are run.
@petebrown So true. It doesn't take much to break down their argument. Is the point of a government to turn a profit? If the government should be run like a business, who are the customers, shareholders and employees? Isn't a government, by definition, a monopoly?
