👁️ Earlier today, I was told that ‘A1’, pronounced ‘AONE’, is very dangerous. She’d read an article in Stuff warning that ‘A1’ posed a threat to the human race.

She was surprised I hadn’t read it. Her understanding was that I knew about this sort of thing.

Should I trust this person - or run?

@bnmnetp Despite having lived in the US for the vast majority of my life - A1 never quite made it for me - as a Brit - HP - always was and always will be - and yes I know they are nothing like each other. That said I must have so successfully expunged it from my memory banks that your comment elicited an internal ‘huh’. Just could not get it. Until i did - by asking Perplexity if it understood the reference. A second later:

> A.1. is a famous steak sauce brand. So he’s joking that if “A1” is a threat to the human race, perhaps humanity is facing extinction at the hands of a condiment.

🤦🏼‍♂️

Very good 😎

Clearly I am losing it.

@JohnPhilpin Maybe you’re not alone. 🙋I thought, “Okay, I know Hewlett Packard; was there a computer company called A1? Good name but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it?”
