I have a series of photos I want to share online. I want the page to basically just be the picture, possibly with a caption. I want the photos to be as large as it can be. I want them to be the focus. I want it to work well on mobile, with swipes.

@bjhess The best I've found so far is a SmugMug gallery with custom themes. There is a slideshow button that works nicely on the computer. Unfortunately on mobile it is just a timed slideshow – no swipe support. Also, I don't like the default caption display and don't feel like customizing further. But maybe it's good enough.

I have a halfway-working version of what I want in Jekyll, but the little tweaking that needs done makes me think there's gotta be a software/service out there that already does everything I need. The big upside to the completely custom version is that I also have a second version of each photo. The second version is the original scan of the photo, which came from a slide and was much degraded (very red). With the completely custom version of the site I can allow a click/tap to bring up the old version for comparison, which is fun.

It seems I'm probably going completely custom…

@bjhess Have you tried snap.as?

@uncertainquark I gave it a shot. It was close, but requires tapping left and right with navigation elements on mobile. I think there were a couple other things I didn’t love about it, either.

@aeryn that looks interesting. Does it allow sharing something via the web? How about one-off gallery. This is a once and done thing.

@bjhess see my photos category, most of these use glightbox, some in galleries, all zoomable/swipeable. I don’t use titles and captions often, but they’re supported. I don’t full page it, but that’s entirely a choice.

@365Erik thank you! I’m going to have to check it out. I’ve basically never played with iCloud sharing on the web.

@365Erik oh, one gallery and done is perfect for this. It’s one photo series of 50-year-old scanned slides that I color corrected.

@365Erik Do you have a link to an article explaining how to do this? I shared a gallery, but it doesn't really look like that and the web gallery (link) expires in a month or so. Seems like a different thing.

@365Erik Thanks. I also found this: www.macobserver.com/tips/how-... – I think I got it working, but it was pretty challenging to figure out. I might write a blog post to add another possible place someone could find it.
