The level of denial I continue to see in people with regard to the pandemic is amazing. I’m not really surprised; after ten years of caring for my wife I’ve had my eyes opened to the sheer effort the average person will invest in constantly running from the reality of our fragile humanity.

@SimonWoods I think “they” said from the beginning, that a pandemic either ends because it’s become clinically irrelevant, or because the public doesn’t want to cope with it anymore. The latter is probably the case, for the most part. People can’t take the truth anymore, especially not when considering what’s going on in the world besides the pandemic. I totally see how this “behavior“ is irritating to people like you that do care about this and I feel deeply sorry, that the vast majority doesn’t give a shit about it. I’m guilty as well, although I still try to be cautious, and I’m also baffled at times. I have great respect for people caring for their family members. My mom cared for my dad for 17 years and it nearly crushed her. It is some of the most honorable and at the same time neglected work one can do. It definitely lets you see everything from a more grounded standpoint. Life is different.
