iPhone owners. Do you have any apps that have live activities? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.
@ChrisJWilson yep! I use Carrot Weather (and the stock Weather app), the Apple TV app for sports scores for NBA games, Uber/Uber Eats, and some more that I cant think of right now.
@sarcassem oh! That’s nice about weather. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. Was it for rainfall? I’ve used a taxi service app but it didn’t have live activities unfortunately. I’d love to bump into it more.
@ChrisJWilson I use Overcast in the Dynamic Island a ton. I love Carrot Weather's precipitation Live Activity as well as Flighty's.
@ChrisJWilson yep! also I forgot the timer/clock app. When you start a timer, it goes to a Live Activity.
@ChrisJWilson I've only seen it on Uber Eats and Meater - the cooking thermometer app - just got it recently.
@ChrisJWilson Major League Baseball app -- Offered to show me score during game a few weeks ago. But then I couldn't figure out how to get it back for the next game.
@ChrisJWilson Carrot weather. Parkmobile. I don’t have the dynamic island but they do the live updates on the Lock Screen.
@ChrisJWilson Carrot Weather and Sports Alerts are my main ones. I have a few others that claim they have support, but, I can’t find any way to trigger it.
@ChrisJWilson Transit has one of the most useful I’ve found. Overcast is another common one for me to see.
@bennorris transit looks very useful. I wish my local travel app did that. Is the overcast one different from the standard audio playback window?
@craigmcclellan @agilelisa ah, the dynamic island. I don’t have a 14 pro so I’ve never seen any of those live activities. I suspect my location might have also limited my exposure to them as well — weather and carrot weather in Poland don’t have precipitation information for instance.
@sarcassem I think I have encountered the timer one but I mostly use a smart speaker for my timers. Thanks for sharing, I’d love to encounter this experience more.
@ChrisJWilson I have a few… FotMob, BoxBox, Timery, and all the Apple ones (no weather one though). I’d like to see more, I’m hoping Deliveroo will add one.
@philbowell I had never heard about boxbox but it looks great. Sports definitely seems like a good choice for it. Are you using timery for tracking billable hours or personal time tracking?
@ChrisJWilson a mix. We have to keep a rough time sheet at work and I find Timery the easiest to help with that.
BoxBox is good, but I find the UX a little confusing in places. I like it to keep up with the practice sessions or qualifying when I’m out and about. 🏎️
@ChrisJWilson yesterday I finally saw a streaks live activity (a timer running for an activity). Very nice touch. It makes me wonder what they are like on an always on screen.
