How many companies adopted MongoDB because “it’s the future!” and are now stuck with it until insolvency or the heat-death of the universe, whichever comes first?

Be careful about making technical decisions based on bubble logic

@baldur My father raised me to always structure important data in a SQL database. He's given me lots of other advice, but few have stood up as well as this one. I remember being very frustrated around the time of the NoSQL-hype… thankfully the dev world have realised this mistake now and SQL is again the regarded as best practice pretty much everywhere.

(To be fair, in some extremely niche cases MongoDB was needed because people had extreme performance needs, but the problem is that so many people delude themselves into thinking that's a real problem they will encounter.)
