The comment thread on this post is a not-so-subtle demonstration as to why people tend to burn out.
@baldur There's something cult-like in those comments; I expect those people walk around with a singular voice, repeating the words "For The Greater Good".
@simonwoods Yeah, tech has long fostered cult-like behaviour but there are parts of the OSS/Free Software communities that are well on their way towards becoming proper personality cults.
@baldur Self-defeatist IMO. Surely people are less inclined to become impassioned about OSS if they think they're gonna get sniped at by absolutists.
