“Apple News Plus does nothing for the biggest problem in journalism: the rapid decline of local news”

@baldur if only Apple could solve every problem of the universe. Of course, there is nothing to stop any publication or blog submitting their feed and content to Apple News ... even today ... if they feel Apple News can help them. And I am guessing that if a lot of local newspapers did that, it would be easy enough to drop a maps interface at the front to find your local news.

@JohnPhilpin Yeah. Personally, I think a bigger problem with Apple News, Apple News Plus, Apple TV and even iBooks is that all of Apple's media platforms seem half-baked and/or badly thought out.

@baldur To me, iBooks seems three-quarters-baked which makes its flaws all the more frustrating. I just don’t bother at all with Kindle but I go back to iBooks periodically, particularly since they got the San Francisco font which I’m getting to like more and more. We don’t get Apple News in Ireland but I briefly changed my account to the United KIngdom app store just to try it — and quickly changed back to the Irish store.

@artkavanagh Yeah. Like you say, the state of iBooks is all the more frustrating because it could become an excellent app with just a bit more investment on Apple's part.
