60%+ of my property taxes go to the school. I’ve never voted down an increase to school budgets even without a child. I think schools create culture, curb crime and connect us

@AdamChandler Thanks for voting for the increase. We homeschooled all three of our children up to the 9th grade, and we are now seniors with no grandkids in our school system. We always vote for school increases. High quality public schools have to be maintained by the whole community to be effective. It’s especially important where I live given that 25% of the city’s residents are below the poverty line.

@apoorplayer Absolutely. Schools really are a core aspect to a community. Educated and engaged children make for educated and engaged adults which means lower crime, more civic involvement, community events, volunteerism, better property values, etc.
