I have a confession. I don’t know where to take the book I’m writing. I actually feel kind of stupid for even having thought I should write a book, when all I had was a handful of good ideas. It’s not that I have writer’s block, as much as I’m out of ideas …

@joshua 1) nothing wrong with a short book, 2) lots of people are looking for something other than a traditional wedding (speaking as someone who officiates at those), 3) it looks like your book would be different from all the how-to-plan a wedding books.

What do you want to be different for your readers, after they read your book?

@annahavron so the heart of it is that I want to provide an option to the one-track-wedding-plan that seems to permeate the entire wedding discussion, and people who deviate make the news. I'd like the deviation of being intentional and purposeful to be the normal, and for doing the same old thing everyone has done to be newsworthy for being so silly.

@joshua Okay, looking at what you've said above: I don't even know what the "one-track-wedding-plan" is; so I'd want to read in the book about that. So you could write about that, and pretend you were explaining it to someone who's never heard of that, and doesn't know what you mean by it. I would want to read in the book about what you, specifically, mean about intentional and purposeful, and you thinking that this is not normal. (I haven't married nearly as many couples as you have, but all of them seemed pretty purposeful to me; so I'd love to read in the book some examples of what you mean, so I can understand it.) You could write about that, too. I'm interested in this book, and in the idea. I can think of at least one relative who would be all over a book like this. And I'm sure you have some fantastic stories. So I hope you write it! :-D

@annahavron @joshua I worried that this reads as critical, when I wrote it with hand-waving enthusiasm, after checking out the link. Having read various books about wedding planning, I hope you finish your book, Joshua. There is a need for it!
