Apple’s iOS 14 May Turn iCloud Keychain Into a True 1Password and LastPass Competitor.

Making a note of the latest (possible) Sherlock.

@AlanRalph yes - cross platform is where the independents will win out - but if you live in the ‘Apple-o-sphere’ …

then again - when the revamped notes and reminders came out - i started using them both - a lot - but I still have Omnifocus AND Things and Bear and Drafts and … a few others.

And I DO live in the ‘Apple-o-sphere’

@JohnPhilpin I do not think iCloud Keychain can truely replace Lastpass and 1Password for me. I am sure Apple will not make it work on Android and Windows anytime soon. I remember the hassle I had to through to migrate my notes and reminders when I'd switched. And I never want to go through it ever again. I'm sticking to cross-functional services only.

@JohnPhilpin I don't have a concern with Apple doing this. It provides a necessary boost for average users who don't currently use a password manager.

I'll continue to use 1Password because it does a whole lot more than manage my passwords. It stores our passport data, DL data, secure notes, credit card info and so on plus we can share info as we want across our family. Third party solutions need to provide this kind of value add.
