I’ve realised one of the reasons that I dislike the unlimited reply limit on Micro.blog: It’s exactly the same on my blog.

The comment sections of hosted blogs do not come with with settings for managing how they appear on your own site.

With a limit in place, since there are no settings for comment sections, then people can at least make a short post with a link to the full-length reply and that will appear in the comments section.

Right now, instead, if somebody replies with a full post-lengths worth of words, then they appear on your site with the only alternative option being that you remove comments entirely.

@SimonWoods I wasn't sure if I understood your concern first, but your reply clarified. Even I got tired of styling the replies below the post on my blog and removed comments altogether. Just kept the link to redirect them to the conversation on micro.blog.

@SimonWoods @amit There is internal discussion about this very topic. Also made a few changes to the new MB app to be able to handle that. We're still ironing out some details before we implement anything though.

@vincent nice. I wish the max length increases beyond 280 characters? It will nudge people to write longer 🙂

@amit Yep, a tiny bit longer, but not too much.
