An unpopular opinion, but I need not post everything on my blog. Some fleeting thoughts are better if not considered as part of the words “published”.

@amit Agree! Some fleeting thoughts can be refined as blog posts but some (raw) thoughts are to be captured on journals.

@amit @ridwan agreed. How do you stop yourself from making the blog your journal and think out aloud. Everything seems to merge these days

@Munish @amit @ridwan I publish every single thing 🤣 At the moment I seem unable to even write longer posts, even when I’d like to. I consider my blog a journal.

@amit I believe this opinion is quite popular. Those of us who are "online" tend to overestimate the degree to which the average person cares about being online at all.

@maique @Munish @ridwan Yeah, when I posted this, the thought was to stop myself from putting every thought out there. It's junk for me. And noise for others. A scratch pad or a text pile (a file on my system) is a right place for that. And eventually journal for some of those.

@SimonWoods Oh I completely agree. And I envy that average person sometime. Although, I have to say it's a dying species.

@amit Maybe we were lucky when we moved last year but where we're living now it seems people are decreasingly interested in the web as a place for unhealthy habits. Mostly we see people living in the world and doing their best for each other.

I do agree there are dangers and it's right for us to vocalise the ways in which we're attempting to deal with those. Even to the point of journalling; I've had the equipment to do so for over a year now and have yet to begin. It feels strange to be aware that such a thing might be helpful and yet struggle to just do it, you know?

@amit I dunno. I think if it makes you feel better, you should do it. You can write “publicly” and not make any more efforts to disseminate it. It all comes down to why you’re writing it. If just getting it out of your head is the intention and if you feel it’s for your eyes only then journal it is. But I know a few bloggers who put everything out there. I don’t read everything they write but some.

@amit @maique @Munish One of the reason for my hiatus from M.b; I just wasn't sure how I wanted to use M.b and felt I wasn't adding value to people's timeline and feared I was wasting their time.

@ridwan You should never think that way. You never know what people may be interested in the things you consider mundane. Anyway, write coz you want to and not for anyone else. People are free to unfollow.

@SimonWoods I’ve been in the same “got the tools and know journaling is helpful to me” boat for years and years. This post helped me to get off my duff and just start the habit-forming part. Nightly for 20 of the past 21 days I’ve been writing down a bit about my day, even if only a few sentences, and I’m hopeful it’ll grow into what it needs to be if I keep it up.

@pratik @ridwan I totally agree with @pratik If writing to the public is hard work, then I understand you may be cautious. However, everyone’s opinion is important and insightful if done respectfully. We all have a voice and you should use yours where you feel comfortable. I am no more or less important than any other micro blogger. If I do not want to read something - I won’t.

@Munish @pratik Agree! With my people-pleasing tendencies, it takes a bit of work. I will get there. 😊👏
