@AlanGMarz haha you should see my collection of LaserDiscs 😭 BluRays are not a worthy investment by any measure, but they do give you the best bitrate if you are after that sort of thing

@alexsavin @AlanGMarz I saw a LaserDisc once in school. It was this fabled thing from the future. No one was allowed to touch them, even watching them was for a select few only. Do they stand up on quality today?

@a_seagull_story haha LaserDiscs are definitely more accessible and affordable today. Video quality is on par with dvd if you ask me, sound quality can be even better than what you get on blue rays - especially on the rare DTS discs where sound is 100% uncompressed cinema tracks

@alexsavin Fantastic. I can see why collectors love them. It seems like the innovations back then were more dramatic than they are now. Things like the Concorde etc.

@a_seagull_story totally. For me - I love the size and quality of the packaging. Criterion Collection LaserDiscs are still some of the most prized releases with some extras never made available otherwise. And I do love a good heavy weight of a movie in my hand before playing it 🏋️‍♀️
