How to fix your Twitter timeline using this one clever trick…
@adders I’m a big list user on Twitter. One thing not mentioned here, they’re always chronological. If you use an app like Twitterrific, you can eliminate retweets and quotes also.
@skub @adders This is great, except Twitter recently improved List functionality in the official client which means they are now actually paying attention to the feature. Inevitably, they will ruin it; they will introduce ads and the algorithm or _something to spoil it.
@simonwoods Oh I know. Just saying if you want a little extra power. I have some big offenders of quotes from celebs who respond to fans a lot, but post quality content besides that.
@simonwoods This is why we can't have nice things on the internet.
@sku\_b agreed they're definitely the best way to be a power user. I wouldn't go as far to unfollow everybody but that's a personal decision. // @adders
@adders I still think that if enough people use alternatives Twitter especially is more sensitive to being competitive. In the end it will probably be the majority of people in the silos but that's not unusual in society in general.
@adders You don’t have to unfollow, either. I mainly use lists, but I still follow people. I also suppress retweets in Tweetbot, which makes it even nicer.
@adders Lists used to be my preferred way of keeping up with people on Facebook (particularly those that didn’t post often)…except that Facebook continually degraded the usefulness of them over time (eventually both hiding them and not showing more than a week of posts, even if people hadn’t posted in that period)…hopefully Twitter doesn’t realize it’s a loophole to their all-mighty algorithm and likewise neuter them.
