Episode 2 of the Disney Doctor Who was… really bad. It was embarrassing to watch.
@yorrike Yikes I was just about to watch it. Maybe I should wait til I've been drinking...
@yorrike 1) opinions differ 2) if you start watching, and really don't like it, here's a shocker: you can just turn it off.
@mandaris "baby eating" ... clearly this show has gone a long way (back?) since the days of William H.
@JohnPhilpin Disney+ have bought global rights for Doctor Who except for the UK. It’s still owned by the BBC, and made by Bad Wolf - the production company that was set up by the people who relaunched it in 2005.
@yorrike This is where we have to be careful about numbering: Disney have started counting from the Christmas special, so I assume when you say episode 2 you mean 'Space Babies'? Whereas here in the UK, 'Space Babies' is episode 1.
Either way, I'd recommend carrying on at least until UK episode 3, 'Boom', which is written by Steven Moffat, and is excellent. The following one, '73 Yards' is, if anything, even better. In my humble opinion, of course.
@adders Ah, ok. Thanks. Was wondering if I should try a subscription, but then no, not for the moment.
@devilgate re ‘73 yards’ .. the mighty William Gallagher not only concurs, 🖇️ he seems to be going a few steps further
@devilgate @adders … see .. consistency .. those damn Yanks breaking a standard. Again 🤓… why on earth would they do that?
@adders so much goes on in the world it is hard to keep up .. but this is foundational … Thankyou for the explanation.
@JohnPhilpin this was my first episode that I intentionally sat down to watch and there was a song about eating babies. I loved it but “they” took the remote!
@devilgate I think his main claim to fame is as a script writer for Doctor Who .. though not these days .. but a lot more besides .. like a book on The Beiderbecke Affair .. superb TV show with James Bolan in the eighties. I quite like his YouTube channel that sits at the intersection of ‘writers and apple’ … informative, personal and with humour. This from his blog.
