I may be contrarian, but I don’t like likes. I don’t think much about them on any of my social networks, although I acknowledge their existence.

If you want to give me feedback, write a blog post and send me a link.

@frankm I'm with you. I like the idea of allowing people without blogs to have a way to provide some sort of feedback but I don't think likes is the way to go.

@frankm I'm similar to Kordumb - I think feedback is necessary, but I know better than to consider the acknowledgements actually are indications that they all like what you posted. No, I don't think you're a contrarian.

@frankm I think around here you are not so much a contrarian on that subject. I have several hundred words in a draft from several months ago about the deleterious nature of likes.

My quick take is that seems like another place where Winer is a victim of a sort of tech Stockholm syndrome, like his insistence on using Twitter auth for things, making that thing that turns a blog post into an image so you can post it on Twitter, etc.

@smokey @frankm I think disliking Likes is pretty much the standard position in these here parts. I wrote something along those lines a month ago.

@Kordumb Agreed. I would love for my non-MB friends to be able to sign the guest list, so to speak, when they swing by my blog. Not sure what the best way to make that possible is.
