For the amateur photographers out there, do you like to look up spots before you go on vacation? Or do you like to be surprised? đź“·

Looking up spots ahead of time might lead to FOMO and make you miss what’s in front of you. Or you may miss out on a great spot.

@pratik I don’t look up spots as I do want to be surprised. And if I don’t photograph a spot that has been photographed a bajillion times already, I won’t be sad. I’m not looking to recreate scenes.

@kurite Yup! I try hard not to recreate the cliched scenes that have been captured by millions before and I don't have the need to let everyone else know "I was here" either.

@pratik I def like to look in advance including best times to visit the said spot. If it doesn’t work out it doesn’t but I do try to make at the opportune time. For example there is no way to really soak in the beauty of Death Valley unless you happen to experience the places at the right time.

@supremus at the right time - YUP! Some places are best experienced (and photographed) at certain times of the day so I at least try to look that up. Of course, you can't be at all places at the same time and also if you are there for limited days.
