@TheLoneSentry I wonder what other people said. Will I have to go onto the SLAP forums and see?

@bloftin2 It’s been interesting mix of both good and dumb stuff. I reposted the question on various FB groups, and the responses have been really interesting (helmet/pads come up a lot…how surprising. lol.)

@TheLoneSentry I looked over the threads. Your ideas were the most interesting.

@bloftin2 HA! If you think anything I say is interesting, I’d really suggest setting higher standards for yourself! :)

@TheLoneSentry Been thinking about this post. What do I appreciate now that I didnt’ when I was, say 22. Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva. I did not appreciate the flow back then like I do now. I was interested in tricks, not flow, even though people have typically noticed me for flow and not tricks. Like many when they are young I was interested in “progression”, but I didn’t really appreciate the subtleties involved in skating. Now I’d rather see flow than bombastic tricks.

@bloftin2 Some years back I saw a clip of some dude just skating down that famous super long ditch (Indian something?). I was utterly blown away at how…just…awesome it looked. It was like watch water flow or something. I asked Joe (Makarski) who it was. “Dude, that is Tony Alva.” A light went on. A very bright one. I understood. It was actually a really transformative (skateboard) moment for me. I had long, long, long ago moved away from “progression is everything,” but this hit on some much deeper level. I am often fond of saying, “The subtle is the most profound.” The older I get, the more I realize just how subtle skateboarding can be, and by extension, just how profound. That is were real resonanace can be found.
