Still trying to figure out how to link the timeline of my Micro.blog account to my WordPress blog. Maybe I don’t understand the concept? Meanwhile, here’s my “Nature in 2020” post for today: 2020nature.wordpress.com/2020/01/0…

@DTSteele Depending on what you exactly mean - this is one way - the left bar shows my last 10 micro blog posts ... or are you wanting them all in the main blog?

@DTSteele What do you mean by “link the timeline of my Micro.blog account to my WordPress blog”?

Do you want your posts that are on dtsteele.micro.blog to show up on 2020nature.wordpress.com, or something else?

If the former, there are two different options (both dicey because of the WordPress.com plan/fee structure, alas):

1) sidebar.js can show your posts in a sidebar (or some other spot) on your WP blog (this is what @JohnPhilpin mentioned; it’s display-only)
2) Feed Importer for Micro.blog from @michal fetches your posts and imports them as posts into your WP blog

We have a bunch of resources for using WordPress with Micro.blog in the wiki—though mostly they’re geared to self-hosted WordPress sites (or top-tier WordPress.com plans where you can actually customize things and install plugins….)

@smokey Thought Micro.blog would show posts from WordPress blog in my timeline. Maybe the importer tool is needed but that seems static? I’ve mainly used the Google Blogger tool. I also want to learn about Micro.blog as an alternative to standard social media sites. Thanks!

@JohnPhilpin Thanks, looks like a great solution but might be aspirational for my skills. I have Weebly and Blogger sites I’ve created and Twitter, Instagram presence. I thought linking to a WordPress or other site was necessary step in engaging within Micro.blog?

@DTSteele This should do it:

  • Take this URL: [2020nature.wordpress.com/feed/](https://2020nature.wordpress.com/feed/)
  • Go to this page: <micro.blog/account/f...>
  • Add the feed using the form at the bottom of the page.

You posts will appear depending on how they meet the timeline display rules.

@DTSteele erm... I forgot how Micro.blog's conversation timeline utterly fails at parsing complicated replies. Sorry about that.

Let's try again:

  • On your WordPress site, grab the URL of your "Entries feed".
  • On Micro.blog, go to Account.
  • Then select "Edit Feeds & Cross-posting".
  • Go to the bottom of the page and use the form to add the URL.

Now your WordPress posts will appear in the Micro.blog timeline, assuming that's what you want?

@simonwoods Thanks. I thought I had done that but haven't seen the WP posts in my Micro.blog timeline yet. I'm checking on both sides as I haven't used that site much before.

@DTSteele others more qualified than I on micro blog will confirm that I am definitely technically challenged .. using WordPress to display your micro blog posts is a possibility and is free that is what is going in here : justgoodmusic.net and micro.blog/justgoodm... ... but out of the box micro blog has its own web site mine for example is john.philpin.com

@smokey has god wisdom in this world and @miraz has a whole site dedicated to how to do stuff here.

@JohnPhilpin Thanks for that great example. I’m now following those two @smokey and @miraz for what looks to be a firehose of learning…

@DTSteele Were you looking for previous posts to appear? If new posts aren't appearing that is definitely a bug.

@simonwoods I thought I’d have to transfer older posts if I wanted them to show up but I just did a test WP post and nothing here. I’m wondering if the problem could be on the WordPress side now. Thanks.

@DTSteele You're welcome. 🙂 From what I've seen Manton has the means to test feeds for issues so hopefully he'll be able to track down the solution.

@DTSteele Actually, looking at your timeline I can see your test post, there just after your last reply to me.

It's at: micro[dot]blog/DTSteele -- That is your timeline on Micro.blog, with that URL specifically the page for your Micro.blog profile.

You also have a hosted site at: dtsteele[dot]micro[dot]blog -- This is your hosted site, effectively a replacement for your WordPress site. I think there is a way to syndicate from your WordPress site to the hosted Micro.blog site but I don't have the info at hand right now. Either way it is more complicated when compared to the social side of Micro.blog; the aforementioned timeline/profile.

@simonwoods Hmm, I don’t see those WP posts, maybe that is the way it works. I prefer the friendly space at Micro.blog but was thinking I needed the space for bigger posts? Nice “#1 Bad Guy” link by the way and it led me to the “Future” section on that site of interest too.

@DTSteele You're not likely to get much from me, but I did create the @custom site where not much new is coming through at the moment. Head over to custom.micro.blog and have a good look around. I expect to start more regular updates again mid-year.

@DTSteele Your Wordpress posts are showing as links for me in your timeline. Odd if you can’t see them. Are you checking the correct URL?

@dgs Thanks. I see a few earlier WP posts that I copied over but not the two I wrote in last 24 hours. I will review with Micro.blog help.
