@Gabz Interesting story! I had a HTC Desire (Android 2.2) as my first real smartphone, and after I got tired of the small space on it (I forget the details), I also bought the iPhone 4 (antennagate, remember?) as my first iPhone. I can only blame myself though…
@odd I do remember antennagate!! 😅, but I think that was on the GSM model , I might be remembering this wrong, I had the CDMA model.
@odd @Gabz Sidenote: I was working at Google when the first Android phone came out: the HTC Dream/G1. A few members of my team had access to pre-production units and while they were nowhere as nice as the iPhones, we were all very excited. I got mine on release a weeks later. They announced the Nexus One just as I was leaving Google, but stayed around enough to receive one as the annual Christmas gift!
@purisubzi Thats cool! I think the HTC Desire was one of the phones that I’ve been most satisfied with. It had this great looking background too, and a nice weather/clock widget. Just wish it had more RAM and storage.
@odd Oh, yes, that was a good phone. My girlfriend at that time lusted after my Nexus One. I loved that little trackball nubbin too much to give that phone to her, so got her the Desire instead!
@Gabz Ha! Same story here. I mean, I sort of cared but not too much, and then she showed me two things: a Sony Ericsson sliding phone that looked ridiculously slick and more importantly, an iPod… and I mean an iPod in 2004. It took me a few more years to really care about this stuff but the seed was very much planted that day.
@simonwoods oh damn! I forgot the iPod 📱, I also remember paying $10.00 for a software upgrade 😅
@Gabz I had the moto droid at one point and will never forget how it screamed “DROID!!” at you in a horrible demon robot voice when it started up. It was so bad!
