I’ve been trying out some different apps and services this month because I’m trying to get better visibility into my goals. I currently use Things 3 and have for many years. I’ve tried Obsidian & Notion but am spending too much time tweaking. What do you use, and why do you like it?

@See3p0 Tried everything out there and I always come back to Omnifocus. It is simply the most powerful and customizable project/goal/task manager I’ve ever used, especially if you follow the Getting Things Done methodology.

@ercohn I do use GTD mostly & I know about OmniFocus but haven’t looked closely. What is it specifically that keeps you coming back to it?

@See3p0 I’m a big believer in picking one tool and not switching. The issue is very rarely the tool. I talk about this in my Omni Show interview if you missed that. With that said, I would suggest OmniFocus as a tool that scales well and has all the features needed to support most any system you want to create.

@See3p0 like @ercohn I’m also an OmniFocus user. Have been for over a decade. Defer dates, rock solid sync, automation, task paper templates, superb link support — just some of the reasons I have no reason to look anywhere else.

@jthingelstad @See3p0 @ercohn I’ve been using OmniFocus for over a decade as well. I haven’t found an app or productivity system that comes close. People at my office always remark how I’m able to maintain my cool when we’re in the thick of it. GRD and OmniFocus are the answers.

@jthingelstad I agree about picking one tool. Things 3 has been my jam for almost a decade. I knew you were an OmniFocus user but forgot about the interview you did, I’ll check it out.

@jthingelstad Listened to your interview, the difference between a system & the tool was something I was blurring. My dissatisfaction is with my implementation of GTD so I’m keeping Things 3 and adding Agenda with shortcuts enhancing both. Thanks!

@See3p0 pretty much everything everyone else already mentioned. Tl;dr It’s infinitely customizable and incredibly powerful.

@See3p0 I think that is more often the case than folks realize. The tool defines the boundaries of what your system can do. I’ve reinvented my system many times without changing the tool. Also don’t lose sight of the stuff in your system. :-)
