I have come to strongly dislike the various forms of the word “redundant” as a euphemism for layoffs. I think it obscures the responsibility of the employer and implies that the person whose job they are eliminating is somehow at fault (which they pretty much never are).

@petebrown yeah, it definitely implies a staffing error being corrected with the onus on the fired person for not being more uniquely valuable.
