Indianapolis rolls out the red carpet for transit. I think Bus Rapid Transit is a good option for many mid sized cities in America. I’m glad Indy went with electric BRT buses.

@bradenslen That sounds fantastic and I love that it's a Midwestern city that is creating it, especially THAT one. When I was a kid, if we ever wanted to drive anywhere to the east, the only option was to drive east on the highway that ran right through the middle of Indy, a series of many red lights and a long line of cars creeping along. Later they created freeways and bypass routes, but this system sounds even better!

@Ron If BRT is successful in Indy, the state capital, it makes it easier to implement in other cities throughout the state, funding wise. It's like we have a working prototype to study - right here. If it was in another state, particularly on "The Coasts" it would be viewed with suspicion. ;-)

I remember those pre-Interstate days, traveling West on US Hwy 30 across Illinois and Iowa to visit family and getting stuck in surface traffic in every city along the way. I was a tot and I'm sure I tested my parents patience over the course of those long trips. I remember my mother keeping me busy spotting the old farm type windmills. One thing, there was a lot to see on those old surface highways, freeways and Interstates may be faster, but they are boring.
