@JohnBrady It’s call Nullschool. The web version is earth.nullschool.net/.

The app is quite new, but has the advantage of being able to use a smartphone’s GPS to localize the view. (To get the same thing on the web version, I had to figure out my latitude and longitude and code them into the URL.)

You can view many kinds of data, but surface air currents color-coded for temperature is what I find most useful.

I think @Miraz turned me onto it.
