@crossingthethreshold Simialr experiences when I first moved to China!
@rickcogley Haha, I can’t remember. I just remember that my wife had injured her ankle, and I was on a take out mission in a country that I did not understand a word! 😄
@crossingthethreshold I remember how it was when I first got here, so I can feel your pain. Looks like they have some curry rice too.
@crossingthethreshold by the way, argh, that must have sucked for your wife getting injured in a foreign country when you're struggling to communicate anyway. Hope it was not too bad!
@rickcogley We actually had a very good experience and still talk about it to this day (it happened in 2016). My wife and I must have stood out like a sore thumb as we stood in line at the hospital, rather unsure what to do. A hospital worker who spoke some English took us under her wing and in between her other commitments kept on circling back to us to make sure that we knew what to do and where to go next. She even insisted on calling a taxi for us at the end of the visit, and came out to make sure that we got in the right taxi.
During our time in the hospital my wife was given lessons on how to use crutches, lessons that were filled with much laughter as ways were found to navigate the language barrier.
Dare I say it, but that hospital visit was one of the highlights of our visit to Japan.
@crossingthethreshold what a great story! I’m glad for you something so positive came of it!
