@vincent I’d suggest there’s still room in the world for your idea. They HEY World system will always be in support of HEY email, whereas you could offer something more open.
@vincent @canion I agree with you, Andrew. Here’s the thing, Vincent; whilst I appreciate a lot of what Fried and DHH do, they also have a tendency to be very much up their own arse and that shines through in their products.
Whereas I believe developers such as yourself very much have your feet firmly on the ground and think about more than just corporate people; for example, I have zero use or interest in Hey email at all and so this blogging feature of theirs is a non-starter. As such I think it would be a good idea for you to pursue your own version, so long as you still feel the passion with which you approach the rest of your independent work.
@vincent I can’t say it much better than @simonwoods already did. There is always a market for smaller, high quality services. Just look at how many people love Gluon.
@vincent you can still have a shot at this concept… make it more open, don’t depend on one client… something HEY will never do as this new thing is a trick to keep people using their service. My two cents. (Disclaimer: I’m a big fan of HEY).
@vincent wow, this is interesting. I’ve just (this week) started using HEY email and I’m liking it. HEY World sounds interesting, too. As a micro.blog newbie who’s liking it here, I’ll probably keep an eye on this one from the sidelines.
