@MitchW Awesome! It looks like I can put in a couple tweaks for your use-case already. Look for an update tomorrow that’ll improve your blockquotes and Archive page.
@Mtt Wow! This looks fantastic. I always admire your need to push boundaries and redesign things.
@MitchW Couple of things for you. First, you have some custom css in Micro.blog (Design → Edit CSS) that seems like it was for an old theme. If you remove that, it'll re-size the headers on the archive page to match the rest of the theme. Next, I updated some things to improve blockquote styling for your use-case. Lastly, I added some overflow-wrap parameters to format some of your very old posts that had long URLs in them. Thanks for the quick install, it helped me find a few bugs I wouldn't have seen otherwise. The plugin update should appear for you (Plugins page) in about 2 hours.
@Mtt Thanks. And yes, I do have some old CSS in there that I’d forgotten about even though I just put it in a few days ago. So thank you for reminding me. I will look for that updated theme soon. I do appreciate your diligence on this.
@Mtt I removed the CSS and the theme does indeed look significantly better. And it already looked good before. I saw an update available on the plugins page and so I hit that. Not seeing any further change but I'll give it time; sometimes it takes a while.
@canion mentioned a comparison with Marfa, and the similar Alpine, which I used until very recently. Those are great themes but they seem formal for the kind of casual blogging I do. Your theme seems better suited to a mix of casual and more formal posts, and it does a good job on photos to.
So thank you yet again. And I think I may have seen a donation box on the theme page; I'm going to go look for that right now.
@MitchW Thanks for the kind words. I did add a support link in the docs. Just the thought of that is appreciated.
I just checked your site, and you did everything right. The blockquote tweak I did was for it showing too narrow on mobile. It's showing correctly now. I did push out another update a few minutes ago (takes up to 2 hours to get through system).
I plan to limit the quantity of minor updates going forward, but want to knock out as many bugs to start with as I possibly could.
@Mtt love how clean this looks, thanks for sharing Matt. Now installed on my blog too! One small query - the alt text for my profile photo still says "Matt Langford Profile Photo", where can I change that?
@ekcragg Yikes! Fixing that now. Should see an update soon (takes max of 2 hours to reach everyone).
@Mtt this is really great! I installed it on thingelstad.com and like how it feels! Nicely done!
@jthingelstad Thanks! I see a couple things I can tweak to work better on your site. I’ll do that as quickly as possible (your nostr public key and your nav line break on mobile). Easy fixes that I’ll push out by tonight.
@jthingelstad Haven’t used that one, but I’ll look into it.
@Mtt looks good for deep-linking articles cos of how compact title & footer are. If meta tag plugin works, I'd consider testing
@jthingelstad The Surprise me plugin appears to be just a re-direct using the URL /surprise-me appended to your domain. It should work out-of-the-box without any theme tweaks. If you want to add a link to it in your Nav, you can do that in the Pages section (choose Add Redirect).
@jthingelstad An update to the theme with the fixes I mentioned has been pushed out. Can take up to 2 hours (typically less). You can update it on the plugin page when it's available.
