@mmetcalfe fair enough, I didn’t know what TF an elk was until the 90’s when we flew into Phoenix and drove by Flagstaff into Nevada to get to our Grand Canyon trail head;) Also, to be fair to whoever f$&ked up the naming over here… if you’re used to deer, you’ll think you saw a moose. Big enough to stop a car on impact I’d say.
@Moondeer Wow - we don’t have deer that big. The story of “elk” as a word is quite interesting: elk disappeared from most of western Europe after the classical period, as a result of feudal farming practices. Eventually, the word came to have a vague meaning as most people had never seen one IRL.
