Is there a level of complexity beyond which we can no longer reasonably expect most people to understand the mechanics of our society?

Generative AI, derivatives markets, supply chains, cryptocurrencies, industrial agriculture, the banking system…

At what point do we give up hope that we’re able to educate...

@dfte That’s when it’s time to move to underlying principles rather than implementation details. As a comparison: I can understand the need to eat fibre, protein etc to maintain health without needing to know details of how cells take up nutrients and interact with other cells.

@Miraz You’re absolutely right.

And I look at the erosion of education and educational funding in my country over the last, well, as long as I’ve been alive, and I’m not filled with optimism.

Still, I’m trying.

@dfte Trying is all we can do. In our country too the government is busy unwinding what’s good in education. Things will change … eventually.
