Let me know your favorite obscure Mac apps/utilities. Some suggestions from me: Front and Center, Bike Outliner, Framous, PopClip, Acorn/Retrobatch, and StopTheMadness Pro.

@Miraz Nice. I used Shottr for a long time, but I switched to CleanShot X a few months ago and have been happy.

@maique I love Rocket. What do you use the others for? Looking into them.

@matt Paletro adds a Command Palette to all apps. You don’t have to remember shortcuts, just call it, and type. I can’t tell you how many thousands of times I used it. Every single day, I even forget it’s not part of the OS. Boom is indispensable on the tiny Air. Boosts the sound, nicely.

@Mtt I use a number of small menu bar utilities. WhatsOn puts Apple Music and controls up there. Spaced lets you add spacers. ClipTools is a fantastically capable clipboard manager. PearCleaner is a neatly integrated app uninstaller. Raycast replaces Spotlight. LocalSend lets me move files around from Macs to Linux and that one, sad Windows machine. And Shottr, of course. I’ve installed most of these and keep them updated with homebrew, and I use Warp for a terminal.

Most of the apps and utilities I use on the daily are free or open source, as well. FolderTidy, MarkEdit, Twos, AnyType, Onyx, SquirrelDisk, Burn, IINA, and some others.

@maique Ohhh. I googled it and ended up on a Zoom type plugin thing. I think I found it now. Do you use Boom2 or Boom3D?

@tylerknowsnothing Definitely need to look into a bunch of those. I’ve used Space, PearCleaner (although I use Hazel for that now), Raycast, Shottr (now I use CleanShot), and Onyx. Will look into all the rest!

@Mtt I decided to dive in a little further with my recommendations. In addition to those in the original post, here are some others I use. Some are less obscure than others: Audio Hijack, Calibre, CleanShot X, Fission, Hazel, Lickable Menu Bar, Marked 2, Tailscale, Teleprompter, and Wipr.

@gregmoore I’ve used a few similar apps, but I just downloaded this one to give it a try. Solid first impression. Thanks.
