Spin-off effects … we bought a new EV so that meant getting a charger installed (this week, I hope). The EV allows us to change our electricity plan — it gives us 50% discount from 2100 to 0700. So now I've learned how to program our dishwasher and washing machine to run overnight.

@esoterica Heh, a bit slower. Deb took the car (at 80% charge) to Wellington yesterday where she works (about 1.25 hours drive). After an overnight slow charge there is insufficient charge for her to drive there and back again today. Trickle charge may work well for someone who does short journeys but in our situation it just doesn't work. The nearest public charger to our home is 15 Km away and the chance of the sole outlet being busy is high.

@esoterica BTW: trickle charged 12 hours last night and went from 29% to 54%. Then I drove to the supermarket today and did a public charge from ~50% to 80% in 24 minutes…
