I haven’t spotted any Pukeko at the lakes recently so was glad to see a couple at sunrise today. 🐦

@Miraz Haha, those feet! It must be a sight to watch them out and about.

@odd They are fun. I couldn't get a photo but last season saw babies running around — they really looked like cartoon birds with feet looking they were were a sort of 'wheel' beside the bird as they ran along.

@Miraz Ooh, there’s a specie of bird that looks just like this around where I am. The only difference I notices is that the wings do not go beyond the tail, but other than that, it’s a dead ringer. I think they’re just known as purple swamphens here.
