Sycamore seed pod. After posting a picture of a Sycamore tree yesterday, @Miraz asked about whether they produce helicopter seed pods. I see photos of them but I donโ€™t know them myself. This ball of seeds with fluff inside, like a reverse dandelion, is what I know.

@cliffordbeshers Meant to say yesterday that your assessment aligns with what I see here in the midwest. Maple trees have the whirligig/helicopters. Sycamores have spiny/fuzzy pods.

@cliffordbeshers Wikipedia gives a list of very different trees around the world that are all called sycamores. You and I are talking about the huge American sycamore, but there's a middle eastern fig tree by the same name, and a bunch of unrelated Australian sycamores. Confusing!

@cliffordbeshers Sycamore is one of those very confusing common names. That looks to me like the fruit of what I would call a planes tree, Platanus species.
