I think I saw an great egret today. Not only one but three. I wish I had had binoculars. What was the microblog consensus on those again?

@tkoola I don't think there was a consensus… For birdwatching something along the lines of a 7 (or more) x50 would probably be good — not too heavy. Spend the money to get good quality glass. If possible, actually try them out.

@Miraz that is 100% egrets I’ve ever seen in Finland!

@Miraz yes, I also found a Finnish consumer magazine comparison (which flunked all of them for residues of harmful substances) but had one small one from Nikon I am now going to check

@tkoola Tell us what you ended up with. I have an old and heavy pair of binoculars that I got as a gift once. They rarely go with me on hikes.
