@jayeless It's to our constant shame that a Kiwi came up with the idea of shifting times for summer! Times are interesting actually — I learned somewhere that it was trains that brought common time to a lot of places in the UK / Europe. Until then each small place often had its own time.

@jayeless The Melburnian in me really likes this idea: I also dislike getting ready for work in the dark. I just have to convince the software engineer in me who’s thinking “oh no, not more timezone stuff” 😄.

@Miraz Yes, the railways! Although what I learned yesterday is that in NZ it wasn't the railways, but the telegraph system. Also the desire for towns to be able to agree on what time an earthquake hit 😄

@lmika Haha, I'm with you. Not that I work with software personally, but I watched a Tom Scott video on the difficulty of coding around timezones and I'm fully convinced it's hard enough as it is! But the part of me that hates waking up in the dark is going, "And yet…"
