@chockenberry — I understand that you are working on Tot 2.
I am thinking about buying Tot. Should I buy now, or wait until 2.0 is released?

@Magi I don't know how to answer this question because we haven't talked about pricing yet.
@chockenberry — I’d love to be able to open a dialog box with a keyboard shortcut, type in my note, select a dot (or have it default to the first blank note) and have the note entered when I submit it.
Second, AppleScript would be great.
Finally, I’d love to be able to change some of the keyboard shortcuts. I already use ⌘⌥▶︎ and ⌘⌥◀︎ for other functions.
1) How is that different than assigning a keyboard shortcut to the app itself? Tot also has a Share Extension that can be used to do what you're describing here.
2) You can use the URL scheme with AppleScript:

There is also support for Shortcuts.

It is less UI—I won’t have to see the main window (which might tempt me to browse other dots). Less UI is less distracting. The Share Extraction will work for already existing text. My goal for the dialog is to open a plain dialog box that I can quickly type text into, and said text is entered into a new dot with no fuss, and no window to dismiss after the entry.
I did not know about that. Will try experimenting with: tell application “Tot” to open location “tot://${dot}/append?text=${text}
Is there a way to make ${dot} mean the first empty dot?
@Magi No problem. One of the things we want to do for 2.0 is document these things better 😉
