A rather facile movie, but I watched it through because the underlying ideas were somewhat interesting — Uglies:

In the future, the world has fallen into chaos after exhausting all natural resources. To keep humanity alive, scientists first create genetically modified orchids that are a new energy source, and second, a surgical procedure to enhance human beings in both appearance and fitness to prevent prejudice and discrimination.

@Miraz I thought about watching as well. Sometimes, it's good to see less than great movies so that you appreciate the other stuff.

@KimberlyHirsh Ah, makes sense. I did wonder while watching, given the youth focus. I enjoyed the leading roles for the young women, and the action scenes — skateboarding etc. The general underlying idea was also interesting.

@Miraz Yeah, it's one of the early YA dystopian series. Pre-Hunger Games or Divergent.
