Sometimes I’ll have a run of bad dreams such that I then fear sleep for a bit.

@Miraz I wish it didn't make me fear sleep but tonight's dream involved caregiving for someone who has already died in the waking world, and I have enough caregiving to handle awake without it taking over in my sleep.

@alanralph I really struggle to allow myself to even try to sleep.

@KimberlyHirsh Ugh! Is there any kind of ritual or visualisation you could do that might help?

@Miraz Not that I've found. I distract myself until my brain has quieted down a bit and then go back to sleep.

@KimberlyHirsh I was just thinking that I sometimes have 'annoying' dreams that I wake from in the early hours. When that happens I tend to stay awake because I can't be bothered / have had enough of the foolishness for the night. Not useful when bad dreams come early in the sleep period though. Distracting yourself sounds smart.
